Members have a role in the organisation
Article 21 of Spain’s Organic Law 1/2002 recognises members’ participation rights and access to information about governing bodies, accounts and activities. A cultural initiative within an association therefore belongs to a wider relationship of shared resources and decisions.
The general assembly is the association’s highest governing body, under Article 11. Its role makes the institution different from a venue where visitors merely receive services. The meaningful social question is how members contribute to a common purpose and take part in decisions about it.
